We had a great day at The Epicentre and were visited by over 100 children with a number of parents, carers and borough professionals attending too.
The children were able to take home a large amount of free books in order to capitalise on the interest that our creative visitors - authors, illustrators and story-tellers - had generated during the day.
The next phase in our project in Waltham Forest is to hold a children's book group development meeting on the 5th June 2008.
We will be encouraging parents and carers to form a new group in their community and we will be working with the Federation of CHildren's Book Groups to achieve this aim.
The FCBG is a national voluntary organisation, with a well developed infrastructure that can help new groups get started.
Our parent partnership, SmithMartin LLP, will make available the expertise of its partners as part of this voluntary endeavour.
You will find the FCBG here. http://www.btinternet.com/~martin.kromer/
